The Evolutionary History of Locks

A simple lock is not simple. According to the different ways to unlock the lock, we can divide the locks into a key lock, a password lock, a biometric lock, a cam lock, etc.

The first is the traditional key cam lock. The lock consists of a lock body and a lock core. It is interspersed with several vertical shaft rods, each of which is composed of a spring, a drive pin and a key pin. Only when the corresponding key teeth are inserted into the lock so that the driving pin is aligned with the upper section of the lock core, the lock can be rotated and unlocked. The principle of the master key is to add one or several driving pins to increase the probability of alignment.

On the other hand, the combination lock on the locker is not so easy to open. The curved metal bar on the outside, which is called the lock lever, will only be pulled out if the correct number is pressed. It contains a lever that you can rotate and it contains a latch with a spring. When you press it down by the latch rod, then the breech lock will pop out and will be stuck in the groove of the latch rod.

When the lock is opened, the number gear is turned so that the notches in the three gears are aligned. The lever is then rotated and the lock lever is pulled out. In order to prevent the lock rod from separating from the lock, a baffle was added to the lock rod, which slid up and down with the lock rod and stopped the lock rod from continuing outward after reaching the highest point.

The biometric door lock is relatively simple and convenient. The security is high but the price is relatively high. It is mainly divided into fingerprint recognition, pupil recognition and face recognition. The principle of the three types is basically the same. Let's take the most common fingerprint recognition as an example.

First, optical sensors will be used to extract the monochrome image of the fingerprint, and then convert the image into a single line of things. The Gabor filter will be used to make the image clear, establish the characteristic data of the fingerprint, and finally form the fingerprint template.

When you put your finger on it, the system will automatically match with the fingerprint template and judge whether to unlock the lock according to the matching result. Such a complex process can be completed in just a few seconds. We don't know and we tend to imagine what the lock will be like in the future.
